As we wandered through the lively streets of Tainan, a quirky vending machine immediately caught our attention. Its bright white exterior, covered in colorful stickers, and the bold “Mystery Boxes!” sign made it look like something straight out of a cartoon.
Unlike the snack and drink machines we were used to in the U.S., this one promised something far more exciting. For just 100 NT (about 3 USD), we couldn’t resist giving it a try. After inserting the money and selecting a number, the machine whirred and clanked before delivering a small pink box into our hands.
