The Jumbo Stay Airplane Hotel is no ordinary place. It’s a fully refurbished Boeing 747 that once soared through the skies and is now transformed into an epic hotel experience. Imagine waking up in a space where passengers once buckled up for takeoff, only now it’s all about comfort and relaxation, not cramped seats.
Located right at Stockholm’s international airport, just a few minutes away from the departure gates, this iconic 747-turned-hotel offers something pretty special. You even get to choose where you want to sleep, from cozy rooms in the cabin to suites right in the plane’s cockpit or the blackbox room. How cool is that?
As you walk up to the massive airplane, you can’t help but wonder, Is it really possible for this plane to be a hotel? But once you step inside, the magic of the transformation hits you. It’s one of those unique experiences you won’t forget, the perfect pit stop for those who love travel and adventure, without even having to leave the airport.

The Inspiring Story of Stockholm’s Boeing 747 Hotel
We arrived at the hotel in the afternoon and were immediately greeted by the owner, Oscar Dios. An incredible man with a powerful imagination, Oscar embodies the kind of visionary spirit that can turn the impossible into reality. Have you ever thought about what your imagination can create? The power of imagination is extraordinary, and Daniel even wrote an entire article about it called Unleash the Power of Imagination.
Oscar shared the story of how his dream was born—how he envisioned taking an old Boeing 747 and transforming it into a hotel. It was a huge challenge, requiring immense hard work, dedication, and belief in his vision. Listening to him talk about the countless hours, setbacks, and breakthroughs made the experience feel even more magical. You could sense the passion behind every detail in the hotel, from the carefully preserved airplane elements to the uniquely designed rooms.
As we settled in, we couldn’t help but think about how amazing it was to witness someone’s dream come to life and be a part of it, even if just for a night. The atmosphere was filled with adventure, and it was clear that Oscar’s dream wasn’t just about creating a hotel—it was about inspiring others to believe in the power of their own imaginations.

Selecting the Perfect Stay: Cockpit or Blackbox Room
Now, we had to pick our room, and it wasn’t an easy decision! Every option was tempting, and we wanted to experience all of them. Should we stay in the economy room, the cockpit room, or go all out with the amazing blackbox room? Each had its own unique features, and what made it even more special was that they had preserved parts of the original 747 airplane throughout the hotel.
We finally narrowed it down to two: the cockpit room and the blackbox room.
The cockpit room had a big window at the front of the plane, offering an incredible view. It was surreal to see all the original controls still intact. The bed was surprisingly comfy, and it even had a separate bathroom. Sitting in that room, surrounded by all those buttons, was a wild experience. We couldn’t help but think, how do pilots even remember what to press and when? The sheer number of switches and controls was overwhelming, and it gave us a new appreciation for the complexity of flying.
Being in charge of an entire plane, even just sitting there, felt thrilling and a little crazy. It was like stepping into the shoes of a pilot, if only for a moment!

Why We Chose the Blackbox Room?
We selected the blackbox room because we thought it was the most epic choice. It was the biggest room, with a separate bathroom, and was located at the very end of the airplane, close to the emergency exit—just in case of an emergency landing! (Just kidding.) We simply thought it was the coolest option.
The room had a TV and super-fast internet, plus an incredible view of the runway. The sunset view from there was spectacular—probably the second-best sunset we’ve ever seen, right after the one in Siquijor, Philippines.
Interestingly, the aircraft’s black box, or flight data recorder, is crucial for air accident investigations. It gathers and preserves essential flight data. Despite the name, it’s not actually black, and it’s usually located near the tail of the plane, where it’s less likely to be damaged in an accident. The room took inspiration from this, and it was spacious, with sky-themed wallpaper that made it feel like we were floating among the clouds. The bed was super comfortable.
On the night we stayed, there was a bit of wind, and the plane trembled slightly, giving us the sensation of actually being in flight. It was an exciting experience, and we couldn’t stop talking about how surreal it felt.
We highly recommend either the blackbox room or the cockpit room—both offer a unique and epic experience unlike any other!

The Business Lounge at the Airplane Hotel
The hotel also preserved the business lounge area, located on the second floor, which was incredibly cool. There was a mini bar, although it wasn’t functional at the moment, but it was impressive to see how they maintained all the original details. We spent some time there, watching TV and relaxing. It’s a perfect spot to meet new people and unwind.

The spread includes everything you need for a pleasant breakfast: eggs, croissants, fruits, yogurt, and more. The breakfast area is charming, with views outside through the airplane windows. We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast experience, taking in the unique setting while savoring a delicious start to the day.
