If you have ever flown long-haul in economy, you know the dream of finally stretching out in business class and getting real sleep. This time, we took that dream in a completely different direction by spending a night inside a real Boeing 747 that has been turned into a hotel.
Instead of flying in the plane, we actually slept in it. Walking inside the aircraft and seeing it redesigned as a hotel felt both nostalgic and exciting, especially for anyone who loves aviation or unique places to stay.
This overnight stay turned a familiar airplane setting into a fun and memorable adventure, giving us a travel experience unlike anything we had tried before.
What Makes the Jumbo Stay 747 Hotel Unique
The Jumbo Stay Airplane Hotel is a fully refurbished Boeing 747 that once flew passengers around the world and is now transformed into a fun hotel experience. Instead of cramped seats, you get real comfort inside a space that still feels like a plane.
The hotel sits right at Stockholm’s international airport, only minutes from the terminals. You can choose from cabin-style rooms, cockpit suites, or even the blackbox room.
Walking up to the huge aircraft makes you wonder how a plane can become a hotel, but once inside, the transformation is impressive. It is a unique stay you won’t forget and a perfect stop for anyone who loves travel and adventure.
Fun Fact
The Jumbo Stay 747 Hotel is built inside a real Boeing 747-200 that once flew for several major airlines before retiring at Stockholm Arlanda Airport. Instead of being scrapped, the aircraft was fully restored and redesigned as a hotel.
Some of the most unique rooms are inside the cockpit and the former blackbox area, allowing guests to sleep in spaces normally reserved for pilots and flight equipment. It is one of the few airplane hotels in the world where you can stay inside an actual jumbo jet.
The Inspiring Story of Stockholm’s Boeing 747 Hotel
We arrived at the hotel in the afternoon and were greeted by the owner, Oscar Dios. He is an incredible man with a strong imagination, the kind of person who shows how big ideas can become real. Daniel even wrote about this in his article called Unleash the Power of Imagination.
Oscar told us how his dream started. He imagined taking an old Boeing 747 and turning it into a hotel. It was a major challenge that took hard work, dedication, and belief in his vision. Hearing about the long hours, setbacks, and breakthroughs made the experience feel even more special. His passion is clear in every detail, from the original airplane features to the unique room designs.
As we settled in, we kept thinking about how inspiring it was to see someone’s dream come to life. Staying there felt like being part of an adventure. Oscar’s project is more than a hotel. It encourages others to believe in the power of their own imagination.

Selecting the Perfect Stay: Cockpit or Blackbox Room
Picking our room was not easy. Every option looked exciting, and we wanted to try them all. The economy room, the cockpit room, and the blackbox room each had their own charm. The hotel kept many original 747 details, which made every space feel special.
We narrowed it down to the cockpit room and the blackbox room.
The cockpit room stood out right away. It had a large front window with an amazing view, and many of the original controls were still in place. The bed was comfortable, and it even had a separate bathroom. Sitting there surrounded by real airplane buttons and switches was almost unreal. It made us wonder how pilots keep track of everything they have to do. The amount of controls was overwhelming, and it gave us a new respect for flying.
Even though we were only sitting there, being in the cockpit felt thrilling. For a moment, it was like stepping into the role of a pilot.

Why We Chose the Blackbox Room
We chose the blackbox room because it felt like the most epic option. It was the largest room, had a separate bathroom, and sat at the end of the airplane near the emergency exit. We loved the idea of staying in the space inspired by the real flight data recorder.
The room had a TV, fast internet, and an amazing view of the runway. The sunset from that window was unforgettable, maybe the second best we have ever seen, right after the one in Siquijor in the Philippines. The design also reflected the idea behind the aircraft black box. Even though the recorder is not actually black, it is placed near the tail to protect important flight data. The room used that theme with sky-patterned wallpaper and a bright, open feel. The bed was very comfortable too.
That night, a bit of wind made the plane tremble just enough to feel like we were in the air. It added to the experience, and we talked about it for hours because it felt so real.
We highly recommend the blackbox room or the cockpit room. Both offer a unique stay you will not find anywhere else.
The Business Lounge at the Airplane Hotel
The hotel also kept the original business lounge on the second floor, and it was incredibly cool to see. There was a mini bar that was not working at the moment, but the original details were still impressive. We spent some time there watching TV and relaxing. It is a great spot to unwind and meet new people.
Early Mornings Breakfast at the Airplane Hotel
Another cool area is the breakfast lounge, where breakfast starts at 3 AM. The spread includes eggs, croissants, fruits, yogurt, and other basics for a pleasant meal. The space is charming, with views through the airplane windows. We enjoyed having breakfast there and taking in the unique setting while starting our day.

The Wing Deck
Another great area is the wing deck, where you can actually sit outside on the wing of the airplane. It is a fun spot to enjoy your lunch while taking in the open views around the airport. The setting feels unique and a little surreal, and it adds one more reason why this hotel is such a memorable place to visit.
