Koh Lanta in Thailand has many great resorts, and choosing one is simple. The island offers beachfront stays, luxury options, private beach hideaways, and places near the old town. It all depends on what you want, and Koh Lanta makes it easy to find a place that fits your trip.
After looking at several resorts and comparing different locations, choosing Lanta Lapaya Resort was easy for us.

Our Experience at Lanta Lapaya Resort
The resort sits on Moo 3, the main road in the center of Koh Lanta. It gave us an easy base to explore both the north and south. Beaches are only a short walk away, and the area has 7-Elevens, mini-marts, and hip coffee shops, so grabbing essentials was simple. You do not need a motorbike, but we still recommend renting one to explore the whole island.

The bungalows were spacious and had a small kitchen with basic cooking tools. We did not end up using it, but it was a nice option. The bed was very comfortable, the room had strong A/C and fast internet, and the shower had good water pressure. We skipped the hotel breakfast because we did not want to wake up early. We first booked one week but liked it so much that we stayed for three.
The Atmosphere Around the Resort
The property was well maintained, and the bright flowers around the grounds made it feel peaceful. The colorful blooms attracted many birds and butterflies, which added a nice touch to our mornings on the porch. We also saw a few roosters, and while their early calls took a moment to get used to, they soon felt like part of the Thailand experience.
The Outdoor Space
The big green grass fields were beautiful, and there was even a small soccer field with mini goals. It was a fun extra feature and a great spot for a casual game or for families with kids. The open space added to the relaxing feel of the surroundings.

The Pool Area
We loved the pool at the resort. Most days it felt like we had it to ourselves, likely because we visited before the tourist season started and the island was still quiet. The pool had a hydro feature that made it even more relaxing, and we enjoyed the gentle water massage while floating around. We spent hours swimming, using inflatable floats, and enjoying the calm atmosphere. The pool area also had showers, plenty of pool beds, and large lounging spots, which made it an ideal place to relax.

Our Stay in the One-Bedroom Bungalow at Lanta Lapaya Resort
We stayed in the one bedroom bungalow at Lanta Lapaya Resort, and it was a great choice for extra space. The bungalow had a comfortable living area and a small kitchenette, which was ideal for longer stays or for anyone who likes having more room to relax. Our bungalow was at the end of the row near the pool, which gave us privacy and a quiet place to unwind. The peaceful setting made it feel like our home away from home.
The Bedroom
The bedroom was cozy and had everything we needed. It originally came with two twin beds, but we pushed them together to make one larger bed. It was firm, which is common in Thailand, but we still slept well. The many windows let in plenty of natural light, which made the room feel bright and airy.
The Living Area
We had a nice living area with a comfortable couch and a small kitchenette. We did not use the kitchen much, but the space was perfect for relaxing and enjoying afternoon tea.
The Workspace
The only thing we missed at first was a desk, since we needed a place to work. Once we mentioned it, the staff at Lanta Lapaya Resort brought a desk and chair right away and set up a small workspace for us. Their quick help made our stay even more comfortable.
The Bathroom
The bathroom in the one bedroom bungalow was spacious and had great water pressure, which we always appreciate since some island stays in Thailand can lack this. It made our showers refreshing after a day in the sun. We also liked that the room came with bathrobes, which added a bit of extra comfort. Little details like this made our stay even better.

The Porch
The porch at our one bedroom bungalow was peaceful and surrounded by tropical greenery. We enjoyed listening to the birds and watching butterflies in the morning. After the rain, the air felt fresh and cool. We often sat on the porch with fresh coconuts or tea, enjoying the quiet sounds of nature and a bit of gentle music.
The Studio Bungalow
The studio bungalow was smaller than the one bedroom, but it was still comfortable and well equipped. The slightly larger kitchen was a nice feature, even though we did not use it much. The layout was compact and well arranged, and the bed was comfortable. The room felt clean and inviting, with tropical decor that added to the relaxing vibe.
For travelers who do not need much extra space, the studio bungalow is a great choice. Both the one bedroom and the studio offered a good balance of comfort and convenience at Lanta Lapaya Resort, depending on what you prefer for your stay.
Comparing the Two Bungalows
When comparing the studio bungalow to the one bedroom, both were comfortable and had their own perks. The studio had a queen bed, while the one bedroom had two beds that we pushed together. This is common on many islands in Thailand, and both beds were firm but still comfortable enough for a good night’s sleep.
Both bungalows also came with small conveniences, like an umbrella in the room, which was helpful during the rainy season. These thoughtful touches made the stay even more comfortable.
The Kitchen
The kitchen in the studio was more spacious than we expected. There was also a dining table that we used as a desk. It was large enough for four people but worked perfectly as our small workspace.
Motorbike Rental
The property also offers motorbike rentals, which were very convenient for us. Renting on site was easy, and the price was better than what we saw elsewhere. If you want to see more of the island, renting a motorbike is a great option.
