Where to Stay in Barbados
When planning your Barbados adventure, one of the first choices is where to stay. A beachfront resort in Barbados offers an unforgettable experience — imagine falling asleep to the sound of waves and waking up to stunning ocean views.
The island has many beachfront resorts to fit every budget and style, making it easy to find the perfect place for your stay.
Stay in a Beachfront Resort in Barbados
We stayed at Coral Sands Beach Resort, a four-and-a-half-star gem in Barbados. Our second-floor room was spacious, spotless, and offered a stunning beach view. The beach itself was quiet, clean, and free of shells or seaweed—easily one of the best we’ve seen on the island.
The resort felt more like a grand mansion than a typical hotel, with a calm and elegant atmosphere. Restaurants and hotels were nearby, giving us plenty of dining options. A highlight of our stay was enjoying breakfast on the balcony each morning while soaking in the breathtaking ocean views.

Best Beaches in Barbados
Relaxing on the beach in Barbados is a must. The island is home to stunning spots for sunbathing, kayaking, or simply unwinding by the sea. We especially loved Worthing Beach, Crane Beach, and Paynes Bay Beach for their beauty and charm. Whether you’re lounging in a hammock, reading in a beach chair, or enjoying music from a nearby café, the vibe is unforgettable.
The beaches of Barbados reminded us of those in Grenada, with the same crystal-clear waters and vibrant energy. Both islands offer that perfect blend of relaxation and natural beauty—paradise for any beach lover.
Have Coconut Cocktails on the Beaches of Barbados
While exploring the beaches of Barbados, don’t miss the chance to enjoy a fresh coconut right on the sand. You can sip it plain or try a local specialty—a coconut cocktail in Barbados. Popular mixes include pineapple with rum, coconut with rum, and passion fruit with rum. You can even choose the age of the rum for a richer taste.
These refreshing drinks are found at beach bars all around the island, making them the perfect way to cool off while enjoying the Caribbean sun.
Must-Try: Barbados’ Famous Rum Cake
A trip to Barbados isn’t complete without tasting the island’s famous Caribbean rum cake. This beloved dessert is rooted in the history of sugar plantations and made with rum distilled from sugarcane. With about 3% alcohol, it delivers a rich flavor in every bite.
Tortuga is one of the most popular brands, but every version we tried was delicious. Some cakes include nuts, and our favorite was the one with crunchy walnuts.

Exploring Bridgetown Barbados
Walking through Bridgetown, the capital of Barbados, is an unforgettable experience. The city is filled with colorful houses, lively streets, and welcoming locals. As you wander, you’ll discover a vibrant blend of culture and history that defines the island.
Highlights include the historic Parliament Buildings and the scenic waterfront along the Careenage. Bridgetown offers the perfect mix of architectural beauty and local charm.
Streets of Bridgetown
The lively streets of Bridgetown, Barbados are a feast for the senses. Colonial buildings, bustling markets, and unique shops line the city center. We enjoyed chatting with locals and learning more about island life.
Colorful street art and cozy cafés add even more charm, making Bridgetown the perfect place to experience the true essence of Barbados.
Swimming With Sea Turtles in Barbados
Swimming with sea turtles is one of the best activities in Barbados. Unlike other places, the turtles here are friendly and playful, making snorkeling with them an unforgettable experience.
You can join a tour that often includes rum tasting and snacks, or hire a private boat or catamaran directly on the beach. Many operators offer flexible packages, so you can choose what fits your style.
We opted for a private catamaran with rum tasting and snacks, which gave us the freedom to enjoy the adventure at our own pace. For a closer look, check out our YouTube channel and see the fun for yourself!

Snorkeling a Shipwreck in Barbados
One of the highlights of our trip to Barbados was snorkeling at a 100-year-old shipwreck. The wreck is now covered in colorful coral and surrounded by exotic fish, making it a breathtaking underwater sight.
You can combine this adventure with a turtle swim or enjoy it on its own. We spent the whole day on a catamaran, relaxing on deck and snorkeling in the water. The crew provided all the gear, including fins, so everything was easy.
The best part? When we arrived, no one else was there. Having the shipwreck all to ourselves made the experience even more special — the perfect chance to explore, take photos, and enjoy the beauty of Barbados.
Harrison’s Cave Barbados
Harrison’s Cave is one of Barbados’ top natural attractions and a must-visit on the island. Located in Allen View, Welchman Hall, it’s open daily from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
This national treasure is famous for its striking geological formations, underground streams, and breathtaking natural beauty—making it an unforgettable experience for the whole family.
Harrison’s Cave Tram Tour
We had a fantastic time exploring Harrison’s Cave on the tram, which offered the perfect way to see breathtaking stalactites, cascading waterfalls, and emerald pools. Our guide was both funny and informative, making the tour entertaining from start to finish.
This adventure is family-friendly, with plenty of fun facts for kids and even a zip line for extra excitement. If you’re looking for a unique experience in Barbados, Harrison’s Cave is the perfect choice.
Rihanna’s Homes in Barbados
One of the most unique experiences in Barbados was visiting Rihanna’s childhood home and seeing her stunning $22 million vacation mansion. It was inspiring to stand where her incredible journey began.
We’ve written a full post about our visit, so if you’d like to learn more, check out our blog: Why We Visited Rihanna’s Childhood Home in Barbados.

Charles Fort Barbados
We love exploring history when we travel, and in Barbados, Charles Fort is a must-see. Built in the 17th century, it’s one of the island’s most important landmarks. Located in Holetown, the fort features preserved cannons and stone walls that reflect Barbados’ military past.
Today, Charles Fort is part of the Hilton Barbados Resort, making it easy to visit. It’s also a beautiful spot for an afternoon walk or to enjoy a stunning sunset by the sea.
