Why We Travel
Traveling the world is more than just an adventure for us; it’s a mission, a purpose we are determined to fulfill. It all began with our daughter, Christine, who had an insatiable love for travel and a deep desire to explore every corner of the globe. Unfortunately, an illness prevented her from traveling internationally to her desired destinations. But Christine was not one to give up on her dreams, and so she secretly made a bucket list of all her desired destinations, experiences, and adventures. She kept the list hidden away, hoping that one day, it would be fulfilled. In her honor, we embarked on a journey to explore the world, seeking out the beauty in every place and fulfilling Christine’s bucket list. Our quest is ongoing, and this mission has taken us to the farthest corners of the globe.
Christine – Our Hero and Inspiration
Christine was a radiant soul, full of love, adventure, and curiosity. She lived for travel and music, spreading joy wherever she went. Her songs, played on piano and ukulele, carried her passion and inspired others to see the world in a brighter light.
At just 19, before returning to heaven, Christine shared her final wish: that we continue her legacy of exploration. “Travel the world,” she whispered, “seek sunflowers as a sign of my presence, and watch sunsets as a reminder of my love for “It’s Only Temporary.“ You can find her song on iTunes under Christine Danielle’s name.
Though we miss her deeply, we carry her in our hearts and in every journey we take. It’s Only Temporary was her motto and her song—a reminder that even the hardest battles pass. Her strength and courage continue to inspire countless people to keep going and embrace life to the fullest.
Inspired by Her Last Wish
We embark on an epic journey armed with a well-instructed bucket list journal that serves as our guide, traveling from country to country, fulfilling one last wish, one item at a time, on Christine’s bucket list. From sleeping in a capsule hotel in Japan, to spending a night in an airplane hotel in Sweden, and visiting Rihanna’s childhood home in Barbados, we seek out every adventure and experience every moment with love, gratitude, and joy. As we journey across the world, we seek out sunflowers as a sign of Christine’s presence, and watch the sunsets as a reminder of her love for us. We feed the deer in Nara, Japan, and shout “It’s Only Temporary” at Athabasca Glacier in Canada. We climb the tallest mountain in the Netherlands, stay at a ryokan (旅館) in Otsu, Japan, visit the giant and the red panda in Singapore zoo, and celebrate the New Year in Krabi, Thailand. We wear hanbok in South Korea, visit Germany’s oldest city, and land on the shortest runaway in the world in Saba. And, of course, we visit the magical Phi Phi Islands in Thailand, just as Christine had wished. Throughout our travels, we not only fulfill her last wish but also find healing and solace in the beauty of the world. We hope to inspire others to live life to the fullest and embrace adventure, just as Christine did.
