Is Staying in a Luxury Villa in Bali Worth It?

When planning a trip to Bali, the first question is often, “Where is the best area to stay?” If you’re considering a luxury villa, you might wonder if it’s worth the hype.
When we first planned our stay, Seminyak caught our attention. It’s close to the airport, has beautiful beaches, and is packed with great restaurants. We thought it would be the perfect place to start our long-term stay.
Short on time?
Why Choose Seminyak
Seminyak offers a relaxing vibe with fewer crowds compared to other hotspots. Beaches like Double Six, Petitenget, and Batu Belig are perfect for sunbathing, surfing, or catching the sunset. The west coast views are stunning, especially in the evening.
This area also has amazing food. From local warungs to high-end restaurants, there’s something for every taste. At night, Seminyak comes alive with beach clubs, bars, and live music.
Accommodation, Shopping, and Getting Around
Seminyak is full of places to stay, from budget guesthouses to luxury villas. It’s also a great spot for shopping, with boutique stores and markets selling clothes, jewelry, and souvenirs.
Another perk is its location. Seminyak is only about 10 km (6.2 miles) from Denpasar Airport. A taxi takes around 35 minutes and costs about 60,000–70,000 IDR ($3.80–$4.50 USD). For a cheaper option, the local bus takes about 55 minutes and offers a more scenic ride.
Final Thoughts
If you’re looking for a relaxing base with easy access to Ubud, Canggu, and Kuta, Seminyak is a top choice. Pair that with a luxury villa, and it might just be the Bali experience you’ve been dreaming of.
The Awan Villa
A Peaceful Retreat Near the Beach
We stayed at Awan Villa, a peaceful Balinese-style retreat just minutes from the beach and city sights. It had a private pool, lush garden, and everything we needed to relax.
The outdoor living room, surrounded by tropical greenery, was our favorite spot—perfect for unwinding after a day out in Bali.
Comfort, Cleanliness, and Great Service
Our stay at The Awan Villas was pure comfort and ease. The villa was spacious, spotless, and well-equipped with daily housekeeping, fresh towels, and evening mosquito coils. The friendly staff helped with anything we needed, including bike rentals and laundry service.
Located on Jl. Raya Batu Belig 168 in Seminyak, the villa is just a 5-minute walk from Batu Belig Beach—perfect for catching the sunset or enjoying the surf. It’s also close to top restaurants and nightlife in the city center.
Rates range from 2,390,000 to 3,200,000 IDR (about $155 to $210 USD), depending on the season. It’s a luxury stay that truly feels like home in Bali.
The Private Pool Experience
From the moment we arrived, we were drawn to the villa’s private pool. Surrounded by colorful flowers, it looked so refreshing-we couldn’t resist jumping in. The water was clear and cool, perfect for relaxing under the sun. That afternoon, we simply soaked in the peace and let go of all stress.
If you’re planning a trip to Bali, a private pool villa is totally worth it. Not all villas have one, but having your own space to swim and unwind makes the experience more relaxing and memorable.
A Breakfast to Remember
Breakfast at our villa was a daily highlight. We couldn’t resist trying the iconic floating pool breakfast—pancakes, bacon, fruit, and juice, all served in the water.
Surrounded by birdsong and a soft breeze, it was the perfect, peaceful start to our Bali mornings.
The tea served at our villa smelled incredible – like tropical flowers in the morning breeze. The Balinese truly know how to make tea, and every sip was full of flavor. We enjoyed it poolside, soaking in the peaceful vibe and feeling grateful to experience such a beautiful moment in Bali.
A Stay We’ll Never Forget
Our stay at The Awan Villa was peaceful and unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, everything felt relaxing and beautiful. The villa was quiet, luxurious, and had all the comforts we needed. We’re already looking forward to coming back. Thank you, Awan Villa, for such an amazing experience!
Temuku Ubud Villa
Relaxing Stay Surrounded by Nature
Temuku Villa was the perfect place for a peaceful and luxurious stay in Bali. The villa was spacious and elegant, with views of rice fields and, on clear days, even a volcano in the distance. We loved the private pool and relaxing garden.
Kind Service and Enjoyable Breakfast Experience
The service made our stay extra special. The staff were warm, helpful, and always ready to assist. Breakfast by the pool was a highlight – fresh, delicious, and peaceful. We also liked choosing our meals in advance.
The Wi-Fi was a bit slow, but it didn’t bother us much since we spent most of our time relaxing. The villa’s location is quiet, yet just a short scooter ride from Ubud’s center.
Temuku Villa is at Jalan Pura Ulun Carik No. 7, Br. Lungsiakan, Desa Kedewatan. Rates start at about 2,053,387 IDR (around 133 USD), depending on the season. It’s a great pick for a quiet stay near Ubud.
A Scenic Ride to Temuku Café
Just a quick 5-minute scooter ride from our villa brought us to Temuku Café. After a full day of exploring, we relaxed with a cup of tea and some delicious homemade pastries. It was the perfect way to end the day. The ride to the café took us through peaceful rice fields and a charming, bumpy road – adding to the experience. Temuku Café also serves as a convenient meeting spot for local tour pick-ups.
Samkhya Villa
After our lovely stay at Temuku Villa, we were excited to head to our next stop – Samkhya Villa. This peaceful retreat promised luxury and calm. As we arrived, we were welcomed by lush greenery and colorful flowers, instantly setting a relaxing tone for our stay.
The villa is located at Jalan Pura Ulun Carik No. 7, Br. Lungsiakan, Desa Kedewatan, and prices start at 2,053,387.00 Indonesian Rupiah, which is approximately $133 USD, depending on the season and availability.
We were picked up by the villa’s personal golf cart, named “the Ferrari”, and rode around the beautiful rice fields and very narrow path that looked like a curvy site. Upon arriving at Samkhya Villa, we were completely taken aback by its sheer beauty. Located deep in the jungle, it offered a unique experience, with the only sounds being the gentle rustling of leaves and the sweet melodies of birds singing in the trees.
Our two-bedroom villa was beautifully designed
From the moment we entered, we were impressed by the stylish design and peaceful atmosphere. The decor was charming, and the private poolside area felt like a tropical escape.
Inside, we had a fully equipped kitchen, a large fridge, and a lovely garden view. The room was cozy and spacious, with warm colors and a high ceiling that made it feel even more open. The bed was very comfortable, and we slept soundly to the gentle sounds of nature.
Daily housekeeping kept everything spotless with great attention to detail. Although the spa and wellness center were available, we enjoyed our villa so much that we didn’t feel the need to leave.
Relaxing in a Balinese flower bath is the perfect way to unwind after a day in Ubud.
This traditional wellness practice combines warm water, fresh flower petals, coconut milk, and essential oils to soothe your body and calm your mind. As you soak, the tropical scents and jungle views create a peaceful atmosphere that’s hard to beat.
After the bath, a refreshing outdoor shower lets you stay connected to nature while washing off. It’s a simple yet unforgettable experience that leaves you feeling relaxed, renewed, and ready for more Bali adventures.
Every morning, we were awakened by the soothing sounds of nature, and to our delight, a delicious breakfast was already being prepared by the villa staff just for us. Every night, we would inform the staff of our breakfast choices for the next morning and at what time we would like to be served.
A Breakfast Spread Worth Waking Up For
The breakfast spread was exceptionally rich, featuring everything from omelets, potatoes, and sausages to homemade pastries, fresh pineapple juice, refreshing watermelon smoothies, toast with jelly, and a variety of fruits.
However, what made the experience truly unique and unforgettable was the fact that we were enjoying this delicious meal surrounded by the lush jungle and the beautiful sounds of the birds.
On some mornings, we would take our breakfast to the next level and order a floating breakfast. We would savor our delicious meal while floating in the pool and appreciating the stunning natural surroundings.
After breakfast, we would take a refreshing morning swim and go for a lovely walk in the nearby rice fields, completely immersing ourselves in the beauty of nature.
Enjoying Authentic Balinese Cuisine at the Villa Restaurant
We had a great meal at the villa’s open-air restaurant. The menu offered a nice mix of dishes, and we decided to try something local. Our server recommended the Balinese shrimp soup, which was the soup of the day—and it was delicious. Soft Balinese music and a cool breeze added to the relaxing vibe. It’s a perfect spot if you want tasty food without leaving the villa.
Febri’s Hotel & Spa
When we planned our Bali trip, we couldn’t decide between a hotel or a villa, so we tried both. On one hand, hotels offer comfort, room service, and daily housekeeping. On the other hand, villas provide more privacy, outdoor showers, jungle views, and your own private pool. Moreover, villas often feel more spacious and relaxed, which makes them perfect for unwinding.
To start with, we stayed at a hotel in Kuta, just steps from the beach. The area is lively, with bargain shops and laid-back beach bars; therefore, it’s perfect if you’re after fun and energy. Afterward, when we compared both options, we realized that villas offer something more personal and peaceful. In fact, the calm surroundings made the experience feel completely different from staying in busy Kuta.
Ultimately, it all depends on what you want from your trip. If, for example, you’re seeking privacy and a touch of luxury, then a villa is a great choice. Nevertheless, we also stayed at Febri’s Hotel & Spa in Kuta, which was very affordable—about 512,000 IDR (≈ $33 USD). As a result, we found that both options can work, depending on your mood and travel style.
You can’t visit Kuta without watching the sunset. The sky lights up in orange, pink, and purple as the sun sets over the beach. It’s the perfect way to end the day—whether you’re alone or with friends.
