Experience the Unforgettable Sunsets of Phi Phi

On our very first night on Phi Phi Island, we were welcomed by one of the most breathtaking sunsets I’ve ever seen. As the sun began to dip behind the cliffs, the sky transformed into a canvas of vibrant reds, oranges, and purples, painting the horizon in a way that felt almost surreal. It was as if time stood still for just a moment.

We found a perfect spot on Long Beach, which was our resort’s beach, sinking our toes into the soft sand as we watched the sky melt into shades of fiery red. The entire island seemed to glow with the warmth of the setting sun. It was one of those experiences where words aren’t necessary—just being there, witnessing nature’s beauty, was enough.

If there’s one thing you have to do on Phi Phi Island, it’s this: find your own perfect place to watch the sunset. Let the peacefulness of the moment wrap around you as the colors shift and fade into the night. It’s pure island magic, and you’ll remember it long after you’ve left.

Have the Perfect Romantic Dinner on the Beach

Phi Phi is famous for being a honeymoon haven, where countless couples come to celebrate milestones in paradise. For us, it was the perfect place to celebrate our wedding anniversary—an experience that was nothing short of magical. Reflecting on our journey together in such a breathtaking setting felt truly special.

To make the evening even more memorable, we treated ourselves to a sunset beach dinner. And let me tell you, there’s nothing quite like dining right by the water as the day transitions into night. They set up a gorgeous table for us, illuminated by soft, twinkling lights, with the gentle sound of waves creating a natural soundtrack. As the sun began its descent, the sky exploded with shades of gold and pink, reflecting off the ocean. It felt like a scene straight out of a dream, with romantic music drifting in from the restaurant nearby.

For dinner, we chose the catch of the day, and it was absolutely delicious—fresh, full of flavor, and perfectly complemented by tropical sides. The entire evening felt intimate, as if the beach had been reserved just for us, with the soft glow of lights and the calm sea enhancing every moment.

There’s something uniquely special about dining on the beach at sunset. It’s as if time slows down, and all that matters is the moment you’re in. Phi Phi Island has a way of making these moments unforgettable, and if you’re celebrating a special occasion, I can’t recommend it enough. Trust me, it’s an experience that will stay with you for years to come!

Hire a Longtail Boat for Island Hopping Adventures

Hiring a private longtail boat was one of the best decisions we made on Phi Phi Island. It allowed us to explore so many beautiful islands and beaches, creating memories that will last a lifetime. Each stop was more charming than the last, with stunning scenery that felt like a dream.

As we ventured out, we snorkeled in crystal-clear waters, surrounded by vibrant fish swimming among the coral. The limestone cliffs towering above us added to the breathtaking backdrop, making the entire boat adventure a pure joy. It was a day filled with fun and excitement, and we found ourselves wishing it would never end.

The cost was 1,700 THB for a private boat, that’s a pretty good deal considering all the sights we got to see. We visited iconic spots like Maya Bay, made famous by the movie The Beach, Pileh Lagoon, Monkey Bay, Chai Island, Viking Cave, and many more hidden gems. If you’re planning a trip to Phi Phi, we can’t recommend this experience enough—it’s truly unforgettable!

Hike to the Three Viewpoints on Phi Phi Island

Hiking to the three viewpoints on Phi Phi Island is an unforgettable experience that offers breathtaking panoramas and a taste of the island’s natural beauty. In fact, we hiked to the viewpoints twice! Each trail is unique, winding through beautiful jungle surroundings, where you can catch glimpses of the crystal-clear waters from high above.

During our hikes, we encountered lots of wildlife along the trails, including a surprising moment when a baby cow came running toward us. It was quite the scare! You can see this episode of our adventure on our YouTube channel.

The hike to the second viewpoint is a bit of a challenge, but the reward is worth every step. As you ascend, you’re enveloped by tropical flora, and the excitement builds with each turn. Reaching this viewpoint feels like discovering a hidden treasure, allowing you to soak in spectacular views that stretch for miles. Make sure to bring water, apply sunscreen, and if the weather looks cloudy, don’t forget a poncho!

As you journey through the scenic trails, you’ll come across the second and third viewpoints, each revealing stunning vistas that are sure to leave you breathless. Before you enter the third viewpoint, there is a small entrance fee of 30 THB. Once you enter, you’ll be greeted by beautiful views that seem to stretch on forever.

Take your time to soak it all in, as standing atop these viewpoints offers a fantastic opportunity to capture the moment with plenty of photographs. At this elevation, the gentle breeze and expansive scenery create a truly magical experience, making you feel like you’re on top of the world.

After taking in the sights, don’t forget to stop by the nearby coffee stall, where you can grab some refreshments to recharge before continuing back down.

Remember to pack plenty of water and wear comfortable shoes, as the trails can be steep and uneven. Whether you’re an avid hiker or just looking to enjoy some scenic beauty, hiking to the three viewpoints on Phi Phi Island is a must-do adventure that will stay with you long after your trip.

Visit the Surrounding Islands

We embarked on an unforgettable adventure by hiring a long-tail boat for six hours, exploring the stunning islands and lagoons surrounding us. One of the highlights of our trip was visiting Phi Phi Lay Lagoon, a must-see destination known for its breathtaking beauty. However, it’s essential to time your visit carefully; we learned that going during low tide is crucial. If you don’t leave the lagoon on time, you may find yourself stuck for a while, which can be quite the adventure in itself!

Another gem we discovered was Bamboo Island, where the pristine beach beckoned us for a refreshing swim. The soft sands and clear waters made it a perfect spot to relax and unwind. We were fortunate that most of the islands we visited were not crowded, allowing us to enjoy some stretches of beach entirely to ourselves—a rare treat!

We also took the opportunity to snorkel at Maya Bay, famous for its stunning underwater life. Swimming among the vibrant coral and fish was an experience that left us in awe of nature’s beauty. Each stop on our island-hopping journey offered something unique, making this adventure truly memorable.

Snorkeling in Maya Bay: A Marine Wonderland

Snorkeling in Maya Bay is truly an incredible experience, offering some of the best marine life in Thailand. Imagine swimming alongside a myriad of friendly fish, each one inviting you into their underwater world. It feels like we’re in an aquarium, but this time, we’re the guests in their home. The fish are so welcoming, swimming alongside us and providing endless entertainment.

The beauty of the corals in Maya Bay is nothing short of breathtaking. The water is warm and crystal clear, making it the ideal spot for a swim or a snorkeling adventure. In fact, this may have been the best snorkeling experience we’ve had during our travels in Thailand!

Maya Bay is famous for being the filming location of the movie The Beach, starring Leonardo DiCaprio. Due to its popularity, it can sometimes get quite crowded, but when we visited, we were lucky to enjoy the bay with fewer tourists around. This made our time in the water even more enjoyable, allowing us to truly appreciate the stunning surroundings.

We highly recommend spending an hour or two at Maya Bay. Whether you’re seasoned snorkelers or beginners, the vibrant underwater life and beautiful landscapes will leave you with unforgettable memories. Don’t miss out on this stunning destination during your trip!

Visit Monkey Beach: A Unique Encounter on Phi Phi Island

If you’re looking for one of the most interesting beaches on Phi Phi Island, Monkey Beach is a must-visit! This vibrant spot is not only known for its stunning scenery but also for its playful residents—monkeys! Watching these mischievous creatures interact and even communicate among themselves was incredibly entertaining.

During our visit to Monkey Beach, we witnessed a rather amusing incident: a monkey snatched a bag from a traveler! Thankfully, the locals were quick to intervene. They threw a can of Sprite to distract the monkey, and surprisingly, it returned the bag in exchange. It was a clever technique that left everyone in stitches, though the traveler was understandably panicked since her wallet and personal items were in the bag. This serves as a reminder—when you’re at Monkey Beach, be sure to protect your belongings!

For a more relaxed experience, consider visiting in the late afternoon. By that time, the monkeys are typically fed and less prone to stealing. Plus, the water is calmer, making it perfect for a swim. We noticed that the clarity of the water was exceptional, allowing us to see more tropical fish than usual.

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Monkey Beach. The combination of a beautiful beach and the entertainment provided by the monkeys makes it a unique destination that you won’t want to miss on your trip!

Kayaking Adventure: Exploring the Limestones of Phi Phi Island

Hiking and kayaking around the limestone cliffs of Phi Phi Island is an incredible experience that shouldn’t be missed. The calm, clear waters provide the perfect backdrop for an adventurous day on the water. As we paddled through the lagoons and alongside the towering limestone formations, we felt a deep connection to the stunning natural beauty surrounding us.

Before you set off on your kayaking adventure, make sure to pack plenty of water and apply sunscreen, as the sun can get quite strong during lunchtime. Staying hydrated and protected will ensure you have the energy to fully enjoy your day.

One of the highlights of kayaking is the freedom it offers. You can easily park your kayak at the beach, allowing you to sunbathe and explore the sandy shores. It’s a fun and rewarding way to discover the hidden gems of the islands, from secluded beaches to unique rock formations.

Whether you’re an experienced kayaker or trying it for the first time, this activity is a fantastic way to immerse yourself in the breathtaking landscapes of Phi Phi Island. So grab your paddles and set off on an unforgettable adventure!

Exploring the Limestones of Phi Phi Island: A Natural Wonderland

When you visit Phi Phi Island, exploring the magnificent limestone formations is an absolute must! We hired a long-tail boat and asked our captain to take us to the most stunning limestone creations in the area, and the experience exceeded all our expectations.

As we cruised along the turquoise waters, we were treated to breathtaking views of towering cliffs and unique rock formations. Each limestone structure tells its own story, shaped by years of natural forces. We were in awe of the sheer beauty of these natural wonders, and we couldn’t wait to get up close.

One of the best parts of this adventure was having the opportunity to swim around the limestone formations. The crystal-clear water is home to an array of vibrant fish that you won’t find in other places. Snorkeling around these majestic rocks was like entering a hidden world, where colorful marine life danced among the coral.

If you’re planning a visit to Phi Phi Island, be sure to ask your boat captain to take you to the most beautiful limestone formations. It’s an incredible way to connect with nature, explore unique landscapes, and experience the extraordinary marine life that thrives in these waters.

Discovering the Swiftlet Bird Nests at Viking Cave

One of the most fascinating experiences you can have while visiting Viking Cave on Phi Phi Island is observing the collection of Swiftlet bird nests. This unique activity not only captivates visitors but also highlights one of the island’s most profitable industries.

Viking Cave serves as a habitat for the Swiftlet birds, which build their nests high up on the cave walls. These nests, made primarily from the birds’ saliva, are considered a delicacy in many cultures. They are edible and highly sought after for their numerous health benefits, including boosting the immune system and enhancing overall health.

The nests are incredibly expensive, with prices reaching around $4,500 per pound! This steep cost is due to the labor-intensive process of harvesting them. Skilled climbers carefully navigate the steep cave walls, making it a challenging and time-consuming endeavor. It’s definitely a fascinating stop during your longtail boat adventure, giving you a glimpse into this unique local tradition.
