Stay in a Beachfront Resort in Barbados

During our stay, we chose Coral Sands Beach Resort, a four-and-a-half-star gem. Our room on the second floor was spacious, clean, and offered a breathtaking view of the beach. The beach itself was pristine—one of the nicest we’ve encountered. It was quiet, clean, and free from shells or seaweed. We even went on an island tour and explored many popular beaches, but Coral Sands still stood out as the best.

The resort’s ambiance made us feel like we were staying in a grand mansion rather than a typical hotel. With numerous nearby restaurants and hotels, we were never far from dining options. We particularly enjoyed having breakfast on our balcony each morning, taking in the beautiful views.

Relax on the Beautiful Beaches in Barbados

Taking time to relax on the beach in Barbados is a must. The island has so many beautiful beaches where you can sunbathe, kayak, or just unwind. We especially loved Worthing Beach, Crane Beach, and Paynes Bay Beach for their unique charm and beauty. Whether you’re lounging in a hammock, chilling in a beach chair, or enjoying a good book, you’ll love the soothing music from nearby cafés or beach bars. We spent many days lying in the sun and swimming in the gorgeous Caribbean Sea.

The beaches of Barbados remind us so much of those in Grenada, with their vibrant energy and crystal-clear waters. Both islands offer that perfect mix of relaxation and natural beauty, creating unforgettable memories for any beach lover.

Have Coconut Cocktails on the Beaches of Barbados

While visiting and enjoying all the beautiful beaches in Barbados, don’t forget to try a fresh coconut right on the sand. You can enjoy a plain coconut or treat yourself to a Barbados specialty: a coconut cocktail. There are a few types to choose from, like pineapple with rum, coconut with rum, and passion fruit with rum—all delicious! You can even choose the age of the rum. These refreshing drinks are available at beach bars across the island.

Must-Try: Barbados’ Famous Rum Cake

A trip to Barbados isn’t complete without tasting their renowned Caribbean rum cake. This isn’t just any cake—it’s a local treasure! Rooted in the history of sugar plantations, this dessert features rum, distilled from sugarcane, as a key ingredient. With about 3% alcohol from the rum, it packs a flavorful punch. Tortuga is a standout brand to try while you’re there, but we found that every version we tried was delicious. Some varieties come with nuts; our favorite was the one with walnuts.

Walk Around Bridgetown, Barbados’ Capital

Walking through Bridgetown, Barbados’ vibrant capital, is an experience rich with history and color. We marveled at the array of colorful buildings and houses that bring the city to life. As you stroll through the streets, you’ll meet friendly locals and immerse yourself in the island’s unique blend of culture and heritage. From the historic Parliament Buildings to the charming waterfront along the Careenage, Bridgetown offers a captivating mix of architectural beauty and local flavor.

Bridgetown the capital of Barbados

The city’s lively streets are a feast for the senses, lined with charming colonial buildings, bustling markets, and eclectic shops. We loved stopping by to chat with locals and learn more about Barbados. The vibrant street art and the welcoming atmosphere of the city’s cafés add an extra layer of charm, making it an ideal place to soak up the true essence of Barbados.

Swim with Sea Turtles in Barbados

Swimming with sea turtles is a must-do activity in Barbados. These turtles are notably different from those we’ve seen in Hawaii or elsewhere; they’re incredibly friendly and entertaining. To experience the best snorkeling spots and swim with these amazing creatures, you have two main options. The first is to book a tour, which often includes a rum tasting on the catamaran and sometimes lunch or snacks. It’s a hassle-free way to enjoy the adventure while someone else takes care of the details.

Alternatively, you can hire a boat or a catamaran directly on the beach, where numerous offers await you. Many operators will approach you, offering private tours that you can negotiate on the spot. We opted for a private catamaran, which included rum tasting and snacks but no lunch. This choice allowed us to enjoy everything on our own terms. Go on a Barbados Shipwreck Snorkeling Catamaran

One of the highlights of our trip to Barbados was exploring a 100-year-old shipwreck while snorkeling. It was incredible to see this ancient ship now covered in beautiful coral formations. The water around the wreck was alive with all kinds of exotic fish, making it a truly breathtaking sight.

You can pair this adventure with a turtle swim or do it on its own. We chose to do both, spending the entire day on a catamaran, either on the deck or in the water. The catamaran crew provided us with all the snorkeling gear, including fins, so we were well-prepared.

What made the experience even better was that when we got to the shipwreck, no one else was there. We had the whole place to ourselves, giving us plenty of time to explore, take photos, and enjoy the moment. It’s a fantastic adventure that we’d highly recommend!

Visit Harrison’s Cave

Harrison’s Cave, one of Barbados’ national treasures, is an absolute must-visit if you’re on the island. Located at Allen View, Welchman Hall, and open from 9 AM to 2:30 PM, this attraction offers an unforgettable experience for the whole family. The stunning natural beauty and impressive geological formations make it a standout destination.

We had a fantastic time exploring the cave on the tram, which was not only fun but also a great way to see the breathtaking stalactites hanging from the roof and the stunning waterfalls that create deep emerald pools. The guide on our tour had a great sense of humor, making the experience both informative and entertaining. This tour is perfect for kids, with plenty of interesting facts and an exciting zip line to top it all off. If you’re looking for a unique adventure in Barbados, Harrison’s Cave is definitely the place to go!

Explore History at Charles Fort

We always love learning more about the history of the islands we visit, and every time we explore a new place, we make sure to visit its historical sites. Charles Fort, built in the 17th century and located in the lovely town of Holetown, Barbados, is one of the island’s most important landmarks. The fort stands as a testament to Barbados’ rich military history, with well-preserved cannons and stone walls that offer a glimpse into the past. It’s also part of the Hilton Barbados Resort, so it’s easy to visit. It’s a beautiful spot for an afternoon walk, relaxing, and enjoying the sunset.
